Observation 6

We went to our last observation on Wednesday to the same class as the first one with Miss. Nerges .The class was beautiful and attractive although the decoration was very simple in fact they were just advertisements hanging.If I can remember well, I think it was about airports or flights. They were colorful and made the class more cheerful with its simple touch.Also this was the clocks class(as I call it).


The problem was bigger this time because the lesson was exactly the same as Mr. Victor class. It seems to me that she has the same style of teaching as Mr.Victor.She began the class by giving the students the opportunity o complete their project then she  reminded the students about the exam. After that she used the  white board to write the lesson title which was about the budget. Later she used the smart board to explain some important point. After a  while she gave them handouts to work with them. It's the same procedure as for Mr. Victor class . We left after short time because there was no point from staying at class. Before that we asked the teacher about her lesson plan , she said that she don't need any lesson plan because it's just a revision for the exam. We asked the students if they find the lesson difficult or not. Most of the said that it was very easy few said the opposite. The class was quiet and the attendance was good . Over all there was nothing special.But it was an effective class for students learning.  
I think that the methods for teaching in business are the same. Especially for the first year students , I point of view The right way to teach something related to technology is step by step which these two teachers follow. Then asking the questions is a very important part of learning and the more important than that is to create completely comfortable environment  full of respect from the two sides , teaches and the students.

Observation task five :
New mission, well it's the same class, the same teacher and the same faces ! But somehow I liked the this lesson more than the other classes. This time The lesson was about budgets. He started the lesson asking the students if they signed the permission paper for the UAE national trip. Then he asked the students to come around the table. He explained the lesson in a simple form step by step and asked some critical questions .After that he said to the students to go to their computers and work with their handouts independently and ask him if they have any difficulty in any time.
During Mr. Victor classes I realized his kind personality and his nice way to guide the students by giving advises and helping the them .He was dealing with the students in a respectful manner and value their opinion that’s why you can find his students in full energy ready to listen to him and never hesitate to ask any kind of question because they knew that their teacher wouldn't even try to ignore them .
I can see from his classes that he has the ability to grab attention and listen effectively to the students questions . His strategy is pretty simple ,short introduction or a talk about a certain subject then writing and explaining the lesson on board or using smart board then giving handouts and exercises and asking the students to work on them on their own, repeating that he would answer any question they have and lastly a short reminder of what will happen next class. When we asked him about his lesson plan, he said that he don't have any, it's all in his head. When I tried to get out from the class early he said that he have more five minutes, I wanted to go because I thought that they will continue on their work until the end. Well after I went back to my seat he asked the students to gather and come around the table again. Then he asked some questions, not very challengeable but they were quiet amusing for me at least.

I was absent in that day, but I asked my friends who went for the observation to explain briefly about the class in general. The class was in business section and the teacher name was Vector. The class was very ordinary as usual but it was tidy and it's easy to move around and look at the board.


The teacher reminded the students about the rules that involve cheating. Also he mentioned to the students what to take with them for tomorrow exam like the materials needed and some helpful papers to revise before the exam.
Then Mr. vector distributed papers .They were quizzes made by business students in section 2 to help them with the exam preparation . My friends said that the exam quality wasn't high enough to train their skills but it was ok since it was made by students not by a professional teacher.
The teacher used the smart board and the white board  to explain some points from the lesson and then he asked the students to work independently on their quiz. He repeated for several time to ask him any question  if they found any difficulty.
The lesson level was average and it was about Excel. There wasn't  any challengeable or critical questions. In general the class was beneficial for the students. Their behavior was acceptable and they didn't cause any problems.

observation task three


We went again to the observation task part 3 to the same business building but different class room. The teacher welcomed us in a friendly way. The class environment wasn’t attractive at all ,its was just another plain computer lab but it was tidy and provided by computers and essential things like tables ,chairs, white board, smart board and the data show.
First of all the teacher asked the students to open the portal to know about how to fill the form for the students who missed the exam. Then he reminded the students by the exam tomorrow and told them what to bring with them for the exam also he gave them a report to find some resources.
Later the teacher started to review for the lessons related to the exam by asking questions. The students responded quickly and tried to answer some of them. Then the teacher gave them clear instructions and started distributing the handouts. We asked for a copy and took a look on it. The handout was neat and consists of several Excel exercises.
After that he let the students work on their own, he kept asking each student if he can provide any kind of help .After a while a student faced a difficulty in solving one of the exercises and later it turned to be the whole class problem. The teacher asked the students to pay attention to the board, he explained the question and showed the best way to solve it.
It was just a review on the exam so that’s why the lesson period was very short; the rest of the time was for the students to work independently on their given tasks.

observation task



I and two students went to business section for our first observation task. We reached the business building on the second part of the class time because it was doubled. The class started on 12 o’clock .the teacher began the lesson by asking the students to take out the handout from the previous lesson.


It was a computer lab that consists of computers, white board, smart board and a projector. I noticed that the class had additional clocks were set on other countries time, well that the most amusing thing in the class.


Although we reached there on the second part of the class, we realized that the subject was about how to write and send a fax using word program and that’s because the teacher wrote the instructions on the board. Then she gave the instructions again and this time using her voice in a very clear way and made sure that everyone understood. As a result the students responded to the teacher instruction very quickly .In the middle of the class the students started to face difficulties, so they asked questions directly without any hesitation. I was amazed about how fast she answered every question and her ability to give her attention equally to each student.


She didn’t gave any extra activities to the students because there was not enough time .The students were completing the task and asking various questions about the current lesson. After a while three students who finished the task first started a conversation about something not related to the lesson. The teacher continued answering the questions and helping the students. She couldn’t do anything to keep the class discipline.


We felt annoyed and couldn’t focus on our task. The teacher noticed the situation and acted instantly by asking about the bazaar and she finally caught their attention, not only the three students who were talking but the whole class too. Also she asked friendly about our task trying to break the ice and make us feel much comfortable.

At the end of the lesson the teacher took the opportunity of the remaining time and asked again but this time with critical questions that require thinking and solving problem skills. Finally the teacher signed our papers and thanked us with a smile.
